Every Virus Is Sacred!

Look at a Christmas crib and other images of the Holy Family, and what do we see? A species that worships its own reproduction. Well, then, let us be even-handed and create a Nativity scene for the digger wasp.

If “all life is sacred”, does that apply to an Ebola virus; and if not, why not? If an Ebola virus could talk, it would surely claim to have been created in the image of God, tell us all about its divine mandate for reproduction, and invent some sacred scriptures that command it to go forth and multiply.

The Ebola virus is a set of instructions for making new copies of itself, destroying its habitat in order to do so – and so are we.
